Amalfi - 'the 'Arrival of the comet on
Mount Tabor' ( "Calata della Stella sul Monte
Tabor"), a traditional and suggestive moment
before the Christmas High Mass event at mifdnight. A big
comet made of torches flies over the main square of Amalfi
(piazza Duoma) and lands in the atrium of the Cathedral,
welcomed by chimes and fireworks, 24th December
Conca dei Marini - "Sagra della sfogliatella
di S. Rosa" - a festival to taste the typical
sfogliatella, a puff pastry filled with custard, sweet
speciality of the nuns of the Monastery of Saint Rosa,
already famous in the XVIIth century, in August
Praiano - "Festival della Tradizione",
a festival about folklore and local traditions with popular
dances, music and tales, during the whole summer
Scala - the 'Chestnut Festival' ("Sagra
della castagna"), a tasty occasion to enjoy
the many ways of cooking chestnuts and the traditional
recipes with the famous chestnut of Scala: roast, boiled,
chestnut cakes, fritters and marmalade, in October
Tramonti - the 'lemon festival' ("Sagra
del limone"), to taste the typical lemon
sorts of the area and variuos recipes, such as cakes and
the well-known liqueur limoncello, in August

Amalfi - "Festa di Sant’Andrea" – in
November and June
Amalfi's patron saint is celebrated on two separate occasions:
On 30th November (birthday celebration ) the statue of the
saint is taken from the Cathedral and carried in a procession
through the streets and squares of the city. On 27th June
the population celebrates the commemoration of the miracle
that saved the city from the pirate Barbarossa in 1544 and
the statue of the Saint is carried to the sea, where a festival
of music and fireworks awaits the procession.
Ravello - "Festa patronale di San Pantaleone ", the
patron saint of Ravello is celebrated on 27th July
Maiori - "Festa patronale di Santa Maria a
Mare", the patron saint of Maiori is celebrated
on 15th August
Maiori - "Via Crucis con processione dei battenti
a Maiori", during the Easter period, there
is this important 'Via Crucis', procession
in Maiori that takes place during the night between Holy
Thursday and Good Friday. The members of the archconfraternity
arrange and participate to the procession all dressed in
white and wearing white hoods covering the face, and with
their heart-rending chants sing their repentance for the
cruelty done to the Christ condemmned and crucified
